Sarah Bottiau

Belgian pianist Sarah Bottiau (born in 1998) is an active performer. She has notably appeared at the Concertgebouw Bruges with musicians from the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, at the Théâtre du Parc in Brussels during the Classissimo Festival, and at Salle Cortot in Paris. She has also performed in Chicago, Switzerland, and Italy.


In April 2025, she had the honour of performing in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen of Belgium in Waterloo. Recently, she appeared in recital with flutist Marc Grauwels as Young Rising Star.


She has been laureate in several competitions, including the Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition, the Liège Piano Competition, and the Andrée Charlier, Steinway, and EPTA competitions.


Sarah Bottiau began her musical education in Belgium with Mariane Rubenstein at the Waterloo Music School, then continued her studies with Hans Ryckelynck at the Royal Conservatory of Mons and Aleksandar Madzar at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. She completed a Master’s degree in Piano Performance at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, where she studied under the guidance of Tobias Schabenberger.


Alongside her solo career, Sarah Bottiau developped a deep passion for chamber music and for accompaniement. She had the chance to work with teachers such as Inge Spinette, Anne Op De Beeck, Jan Schulz and Philippe Riga to develop her accompaniment skills.


She has participated in several prestigious international academies, including Musica Mundi, Tel-Hai Masterclasses, and the Illinois Summer Piano Institute (USA), and has received guidance from renowned musicians such as Elisabeth Leonskaja, Leonidas Kavakos, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Ricardo Castro, and Jean-Philippe Collard.
