Alexandra Derkaloustian

Lebanon, 2007

Alexandra is 14 years old, in grade VI at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music.

She started taking violin lessons at 6 years old and is currently the student of Prof. Ondin Brezeanu. Alexandra participated at the YES Academy two summers in a row performing with various ensembles, and in June 2019 gave a Ted talk about her passion for music.

She was active during the 2020 lockdown, taking part in online international violin workshops including the Livorno Music Festival.

In 2021, she shared the first prize at the Master of Strings International Violin Competition in Romania and was third place at the International Music Competition in Kraków, Poland.

She also took part in the summer Violin Intensive program by Elizabeth Faidly and Amy Beth Horman. She is currently enrolled at the NYU Steinhardt School’s Summer Strings program. She is also participating in the Strings of Hope 2021 mentorship, by the Cultural program of the Goethe Institute in Beirut, Lebanon, under the supervision Prof. Brezeanu and Mr. Clemens Linder.
