Sisters Philina Zhang (piano) and Nickita Zhang (violin) have been playing music together since their early childhood. Now 17 and 14 years old, respectively, they pursue their musical studies with full scholarship at the Special Music School at Kaufman Center in New York City. Philina studies piano with Irina Morozova, and Nickita studies violin with Viktor Basis.
Most recently they won Grand Prix at the 2023 Young Performers' Foundation chamber competition at the Ukrainian Institute of America and performed at their gala concert at Carnegie Hall. In 2021, Philina and Nickita were featured as a duo on NPR’s From the Top radio show and named “From the Top” fellows. Philina and Nickita have given concerts in Merkin Hall, Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, and the National Bohemian Hall in NYC, in addition to venues across Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Czechia, and China. They have been participants of the International Holland Music Sessions, Mozarteum University Summer Academy, and “Summer Music in the Upper Nagold Valley” festival and have taken masterclasses from Boris Garlitsky, Michael Vaiman, Kirill Troussov, and Henri Sigfridsson.
