Emanuel Akopian

Emanuel Akopian (2014) is a young violinist who discovered his love for music at an early age. Since he began violin lessons in 2021 with Aimée Broeders, the violin has become an important part of his life.

From February 2025, Emanuel continues his studies at the Academy for Musical Talent in Utrecht with Julia Dinerstein. He has also been admitted to the prestigious Davidsbündler Academy in The Hague, where he studies with Julia Dinerstein and follows a program for exceptionally gifted young musicians.

In addition, Emanuel has taken lessons and masterclasses with Maria Milstein, Candida Thompson, Mikhael Kugel, Kewin Lawrens, and Philippe Graffin. In the summer of 2024, he participated in the Francigena Music Academy in Italy, and in 2025 he took part in the IMMF Festival in Sicily.

His playing was quickly noticed. Emanuel won the Presentation Prize at De Muziekwedstrijd (part of the Princess Christina Competition) in both 2022 and 2024. After winning the Spotlight Competition, he performed as a soloist with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra. In November 2025, he performed Bach’s Double Concerto with the orchestra “Young Strings of the Netherlands,” and one month later he performed the same concerto together with the world-renowned violinist József Lendvay.

In 2026, Emanuel won Second Prize at the Dutch National Violin Competition, First Prize at the Young Talent Competition Maassluis and First Prize and Young Jury Prize at the Benjamin Britten Violin Competition.

Besides his solo career, Emanuel performs together with his brothers Adam (piano) and Christian (cello) as the Akopian Trio. With this trio, he has performed at the Grachtenfestival, Klassiek op het Amstelveld, and in concert series such as Musis Sacrum and Stichting Kunst in de Kamer. Their story was also featured in several nationally renowned newspapers, including the Dutch newspaper Trouw. In March 2026, Emanuel has been invited to perform on the TV programme Podium Klassiek on the Dutch national channel NPO 2.

Emanuel Akopian is a promising young talent who touches his audience with his refined and expressive playing. For him, the violin is a way to tell stories in which emotion and musicality come together. With dedication and joy, he continues to grow as a musician, and through the sincerity of his playing, he creates a personal connection with his listeners.
